ABOUT ME
I am an experienced primary school teacher and a qualified mindfulness educator with a strong commitment to promoting positive mental health and well-being in young children, teenagers, and adults. I successfully led Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) in school for nearly ten years. I am now the Oracy Lead at my school, a role I consider vital for embedding pupil voice throughout the curriculum. Mindfulness and oracy work hand in hand: by helping pupils become more aware of their thoughts and feelings, they are better able to communicate clearly, listen attentively, and confidently express their values in any situation.
I hold a diploma in Child Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), am a Level 3 Person-Centred Counsellor, and am currently studying for a Master’s degree in Psychology. While I am not a psychologist, therapist, or practising person-centred counsellor, my work is firmly grounded in a person-centred approach. This means I adhere to the core principles of empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. I believe that all humans have an innate capacity for growth and healing, and that, given the right conditions, we can develop autonomy over our own well-being.
Throughout my career, I have repeatedly witnessed the natural curiosity children have about life and the world around them. Growing up brings many questions—some rooted in personal experience, both positive and challenging, and others inspired by a sense of wonder or philosophical reflection. Children and young people often think about the world at a much deeper level than they are given credit for. In recent years, many parents, carers, and educators have also been faced with difficult questions from children about living through a pandemic, global conflict, and the climate crisis.
It is my fundamental belief that children need a safe space in which to explore questions about themselves and the world they live in—free from judgement or shame.
My mindfulness workshops provide opportunities for children to develop and express curiosity, identity, self-worth, insight, emotional intelligence, and a sense of purpose. My mission is to enhance health and well-being across all of these areas, while embedding as many opportunities as possible for children to learn the skills needed to live with resilience, self-compassion, and empathy.
All of my work is delivered through the lens of mindfulness, although this does not always look like a room full of people meditating. Mindfulness can be playful and creative—sometimes taking the form of a mindful adventure or a festival of thought.
Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to find out more about me and what I can offer you, your family, or your school.
Testimonials
I contacted Beth for support with my daughter’s anxieties. Beth was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, warm and very approachable. She made the sessions fun and interactive and my very reluctant daughter really engaged. Beth’s advice for us as parents was insightful and incredibly useful. We have used all of the resources and guidance she provided. Thank you so much.
